**The 3x3 grid structure**

The nine cards form three rows and three columns. The center card - position five in the grid - is the heart of the reading: it names the core of the matter, the central energy of the question, or the defining theme of the situation. All other cards are read in relation to it.

The horizontal cross (cards 4, 5, 6) reads as cause, core, and effect. The vertical cross (cards 2, 5, 8) reads as past, present, and future. The four corners (1, 3, 7, 9) carry contextual information about circumstances, influences, and outcome conditions.

**The reading technique**

After reading the center and both crosses, re-read the four corners as a frame. Corners that echo or reinforce the center card amplify its meaning. Corners that contradict it introduce complication or nuance.
