Different folk traditions interpreted the stumble differently. A right-foot stumble traditionally read as a caution about a direction you are currently taking or a plan you are executing. The body is flagging something in what you are doing, not in what is arriving.

The Context of the Stumble

The oracle also considers the context - where you were when it happened, what you were doing, what you were thinking about just before the catch. This is not decoration. The omen always reads in relation to the active question of the moment. A stumble on the way to a meeting reads differently from a stumble leaving the house in the morning. The context is part of the sign.
